ABOUT US

The Sask Potash Council is an umbrella organization aimed at creating one voice for all unionized potash workers in Saskatchewan’s mines.

Formed in 2008 by the efforts of the United Steel Workers (USW), the Communication, Energy and Paperworks Union (CEP) and Rocanville Potash Employee’s association (REPEA) the Sask Potash Council was born.

Today –  Saskatchewan’s eight unionized mines make up the Sask Potash Council’s approximately 3500 members comprising of USW and Unifor members.

KEY PRINCIPLES

  • exchange information on a regular basis
  • advise potash workers through their organization on issues and concern
  • education, collective, political action, strategic campaigns, health and safety regulations, WCB compensations and appeals
  • promote workers issues in the potash industry
  • lobby municipal/provincial/federal government to support worker’s rights with the ministry of Labour Relations/workplace
  • safety relations with the Sask Mining Association

GOALS

  • The Sask Potash Council goal is to raise standards of safety in Saskatchewan mines.
  • Be one liaison speaking for an industry and group of workers
